About Game Time Non-Profit in Tacoma

The Game Time Way, Est. 2012

Game Time was founded with a singular belief: that every young person in Tacoma deserves access to programs that help them thrive. We are a Tacoma-based nonprofit dedicated to closing the opportunity gap for underserved youth, and our work spans after school enrichment, mental health support, and youth development programming designed to meet young people exactly where they are.

Our team is made up of passionate educators, counselors, community leaders, and volunteers who give their time, talent, and heart to building the next generation of Tacoma leaders. From our founding, we've prioritized relationships over results — believing that when young people feel seen, supported, and connected, everything else follows.

The Mission and Community Need

Game Time is a Tacoma-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to closing the opportunity gap for underserved youth. We recognize that the hours between school and home are a critical window for intervention; without structured support, these are the hours when academic progress stalls and community safety risks increase. By providing a "Third Space" for development, we meet youth where they are — on the court and in the classroom — to build the resilience, character, and skills necessary for lifelong success.

Impacting Tacoma Communities Since 2012

Since our founding, Game Time has grown from a grassroots effort into one of Pierce County's most recognized non-profit youth organizations. We have served thousands of young people across Tacoma and neighboring communities, built partnerships with local schools and businesses, and earned the trust of families who count on us to show up consistently, professionally, and with care. Our story is still being written — and we invite you to be part of it.

Why Game Time

Why Choose Game Time Non-Profit?

When families in Tacoma choose a non-profit to trust with their young people, they look for more than good intentions. They look for results, accountability, and genuine care — and that's exactly what Game Time delivers.

🏛️

Licensed and Insured for Trust

Game Time is a fully licensed 501(c)(3) non-profit organization registered in the state of Washington. We carry full liability insurance and all staff are background-checked and trained in youth safety protocols. Tacoma families can trust that their young people are in safe, professional hands at every Game Time event and program. Our licensing and insurance aren't just compliance — they're a reflection of our commitment to doing things right.

📊

Proven Results in Tacoma Youth Services

We track outcomes, not just participation. Game Time monitors academic progress, behavioral changes, and self-reported wellbeing among youth in our programs. Our data consistently shows improvements in school attendance, grade performance, social confidence, and emotional regulation. These aren't anecdotal wins — they're documented, repeatable results that reflect the quality and consistency of our programming across Tacoma and Pierce County.

🤝

Community-Rooted Leadership

Game Time was founded by and for the Tacoma community. Our board, staff, and volunteers reflect the diversity of the neighborhoods we serve. We don't impose programs from the outside — we build them from the inside, with the input of families, schools, and youth themselves. This community-first approach is why Game Time earns the trust and loyalty of Tacoma families year after year, and why our programs continue to grow in reach and impact.

FAQ: Non-Profits and Programs in Tacoma, WA

Have questions about Game Time or non-profit youth services in Tacoma? We've answered the most common questions below.

What is a non-profit organization in Tacoma?

+

A non-profit organization in Tacoma, WA is a legally registered entity that operates for public benefit rather than private profit. Non-profits like Game Time are licensed under 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status and reinvest all resources directly into community programs such as youth development, mental wellness services, and after school enrichment. Unlike for-profit businesses, Tacoma non-profits are accountable to their missions, their donors, and the communities they serve — not to shareholders. Game Time is proud to be a fully licensed, transparent, and community-accountable non-profit serving Tacoma families.

How do after school programs benefit kids?

+

After school programs like Beyond the Bell and Club B provide Tacoma youth with safe, structured environments during the critical hours after school dismissal. Research consistently shows that youth who participate in quality after school programming demonstrate better academic performance, stronger social skills, and reduced involvement in risk behaviors. These programs also reduce the burden on working parents by providing supervised, enriching environments for kids. At Game Time, our after school programs go beyond babysitting — we provide mentorship, academic support, life skills training, and genuine relationships that shape young people's trajectories in lasting, positive ways.

What mental wellness services are available?

+

Game Time's Get Your Mind Right program provides mental wellness support specifically designed for Tacoma youth. Services include emotional resilience workshops, stress management techniques, peer support groups, and guided self-awareness sessions led by trained facilitators. Our curriculum is built on evidence-informed approaches including mindfulness and trauma-informed care, adapted for youth ages 10–21 in the South Sound. All sessions are offered in a safe, non-clinical environment that normalizes mental health conversations and reduces stigma. We also connect youth and families with licensed therapists and community resources when additional professional support is needed.

Are Game Time programs free for Tacoma youth?

+

Game Time Non-Profit is committed to making all programs accessible to Tacoma youth regardless of financial situation. As a 501(c)(3) non-profit funded by community donors, government grants, and local partnerships, the majority of our programs are offered at no cost or on a sliding scale based on family income. We believe financial barriers should never prevent a young person from accessing quality programming. Contact our Tacoma office directly to learn about current program availability, enrollment requirements, and any applicable fees so we can find the right fit for your family.
